Bhuvneshwar set for NCA rehab after hernia surgery

Bhuvneshwar Kumar, who suffered a sports hernia after the recently-concluded T20I series against West Indies, has undergone a successful surgery in London. The Indian pacer travelled to London with Yogesh Parmar, the Indian Cricket Team's physiotherapist, on Thursday the 9th of January, and underwent surgery on Saturday, the 11th of January 2020.

Bhuvneshwar will now go through a rehabilitation process at the National Cricket Academy in Bengaluru.

The hernia was Bhuvneshwar's latest setback in an injury-riddled period since the Johannesburg Test of 2018, where he was the man of the match. Bhuvneshwar's future was under a dark cloud after the injury, and was entirely reliant on whether he was prescribed a surgical procedure, the usual course of action for a sports hernia.

In other news, opening batsman Prithvi Shaw has completed his rehabilitation at the NCA after recovering from a left-shoulder injury. He has already departed for New Zealand for an A series and is raring to go, available for selection in the national side.
